I told y’all about the Crawfish Festival, right? I hope you went. But if you didn’t, it runs until 10:00 tonight, so there’s still time.
Mr. and I braved the heat and headed to Rainbow Lagoon earlier today. We were lucky that we got there early enough that wasn’t too crowded yet. And, we scored a couple of seats at a table in the shade. Then, we proceeded to get our “Crawfish Feast.” Here’s a tip: split one order, then you will still have room to try all of the other epicurean goodies. Gator, frogs legs, gumbo, étouffée, beignets, just to name a few. And of course there’s a bar with beer or wine, and drinks like Hurricanes or the Screaming Crawfish (I have no idea.)
The best part is always the live music and the dancing. The fully costumed New Orleans marching band performs all over the grounds throughout the day, luring the crowds to join them in their revelry. The music is so enticing, people from all skill levels feel compelled to just get out on the dance floor and move!
It’s a joyful festival. Fun for all ages and lifestyles. If you didn’t make it this year, keep you eye out for next year’s. I’ll see you on the dance floor…
