Ah, Thanksgiving will be here any day now! Roasted turkey slathered in gravy, gobs of buttery mashed potatoes, that gooey green bean casserole with crunchy onions, bubbly sweet potatoes topped with gooey toasted marshmallows, and pumpkin pie piled mile high with whipped cream. Wait. What? You don’t want to gorge yourself on Thanksgiving?
Or you secretly do, and don’t want to feel guilty about it. You don’t want to “gobble till you wobble?” You prefer a healthy, active lifestyle?
How about running or walking in a 5K or 10K Thursday morning? Would that make you feel better? It’s not too late to register for the Long Beach Turkey Trot! You can register now, up to, and even on race day. There’s also a half-mile kids’ Wingding for the young Trotters. 100% of the proceeds go to the Community Action Team which hosts annual projects, events, and contests focused on animal, environmental and youth welfare.
Be thankful for what you have, and be generous to those less fortunate. Participants and spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items (canned tuna, peanut butter, canned fruit, etc.) to be donated to a local food bank. You can enjoy a beautiful run or walk along the scenic beach with your family or friends and do something good to help others. Then, maybe splurge on a bit of pie…
