Sláinte!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Are you playing hooky from work today? Do you plan on hitting up some great Irish pubs for some Guinness and Irish fare? I remember one year a loooong time ago, when I was in my early 20’s, my friends and I decided to head out early to celebrate at our favorite Irish bar. We knew there would be a line to get in, and we wanted to get a good seat. I guess we were a bit over-zealous, as we were the first ones there before the bar even opened! Well, with their Irish hospitality, they brought out bar stools, and gave us free breakfast.

um, I’m not in my 20’s anymore. I could never hang like that now. But, if you’re heading out, there is a ton of stuff happening in and around BS today. Some places are opening early with traditional (and not so traditional) Irish breakfast. Some have live music. All will have alcohol. And probably most people there will be dressed in green. On 2nd Street, we have a regular stop of mine, Murphy’s, with their 2nd story balcony. Farther down the street is Shannon’s, which somehow always lands me in trouble. A little pub tucked just off of 2nd Street is Quinn’s. Shenanigan’s Pub in Shoreline Village is a fun place right on the water, with music and outdoor seating. Gallagher’s on Broadway is close enough to walk home to BS, and they have yummy food. And finally, for probably the most authentic Irish experience, you could head over to The Auld Dubliner.

These are just a few of the bars where we like to hang, whether it’s a special occasion, or just any other random day. So maybe check out one of these places, or maybe create your own Irish Pub Crawl and visit them all…
