Run, don’t walk to Beach Streets tomorrow! oh, wait. You can walk. Or ride your bike. Or your skateboard. Or your roller skates. Just not your car because Downtown streets will be closed to motor vehicles for a block party this Saturday. There will be concerts, festivals, kids’ zones, food tastings, and more. It goes from 10 am to 5 pm and encompasses a four mile area on Broadway between Pine Avenue to Euclid Avenue. There will be hubs and offshoots in areas like Bixby Park and Retro Row.
The day includes happenings such as Summer and Music’s 720 Pine series, and their Buskerfest series, Dogs of Downtown, at least two Kids’ Zones, Bike Fest, Taste of Downtown, and
my personal favorite a Beer Garden. It’s also the official launch of Long Beach’s Bike Share that I mentioned last week. They plan to have 10 stations, with about 100 bicycles available to rent; or, you can start a membership with them for future use. Seriously, there is so much going on, there is sure to be something for everyone. Oh, yeah, when the fun ends at 5:00, the fun doesn’t end! Head over to Promenade Park for their Live after 5 music series (there’s a Beer Garden there, too!)
Sheesh! I’m exhausted just thinking about it all. It’s going to be a treat to wander the streets of downtown (Mr. doesn’t have a bike – we’re hoofing it,) socializing with community neighbors, and enjoying the entertainment. It’s supposed to be a beautiful day. And, just think, with how active you’ll be, you don’t have to worry if you do hit up one of those Beer Gardens…
